Trouble signing in

Lockouts, lost authenticator apps, and other sign-in snags.

Can't get in? Work down this list — one of these is almost always it.

"We couldn't sign you in"

This one message covers a few causes, on purpose (it keeps AMP from telling a stranger which email addresses have accounts). Check that:

  • Your email address is spelled correctly, including the domain.
  • You're using the address you actually joined with — not a newer one.
  • Caps Lock isn't on.

When in doubt, skip the password entirely and use a magic link.

Your account is locked

After 5 failed password attempts, AMP locks the account for an hour to shut down anyone guessing at it.

You don't have to wait it out: request a sign-in link instead and you can get in right away. The lock clears on its own after the hour.

You lost your authenticator app

If you've got two-factor turned on and your phone is gone, use one of the backup codes you saved when you set it up — enter it on the code screen just like a normal code. Each one works once.

Out of backup codes too? Contact support and we'll verify who you are and help you back in.

AMP is asking you to confirm your email

New accounts get a grace period to confirm their address. Once it's up, we'll ask you to confirm before you carry on — see Confirming your email. Clicking any magic link confirms your address, so that's the quick fix.

You closed your account

A closed account can't sign in. If you'd like it back, get in touch — closures are reversible on our end.

Still stuck
