The majority of footage collected for this video project are from the family archives of the band members. Super 8mm footage was collected from The Yearsley Family: 1968-1976, and The Boughton Family: 1955-1982; converted, compiled, and edited. Friday also includes a scene featuring Lily Boughton at Max Patch. Watch the behind-the-scenes footage. Additional stock footage was added from Hellhake’s collection of video imagery. The closing shot of this video features the newest member to the Little’s family.

The idea was to create a project that could dive into what makes a soundscape come alive. During the brainstorming period, the beginning stages involved collecting audio samples from different environments and using them to compose music digitally. The first four scratch tracks were composed of samples from four unique environments. Sound samples were collected from the beach, the forest, the city and air travel. These samples were chopped up, layered and arranged. Scratch drums were added and live bass was recorded to create the song structures. The arranged productions then moved to the studio where live instrumentation was added. The ultimate goal was to create texture in sound and video and to study specific themes with each unique work.
Betaplane earned the Judge’s Choice Award at the 2015 Music Video Asheville for "Friday", and then spent time at Echo Mountain Studios in 2016, with sessions yielding three tracks that the band released sequentially over the next several months. “Horizons” and “Worlds of Motion” came out in 2016 displaying tension between kinetic and ambient aesthetics with some heaviness dialed in. Last year saw the release of “Day on the Water,” which steers the band back toward the dreamy sonic ether.
