Chi'en... the creative heavens... changing desire into reality. Visionary Force, the D.O., the Minister of Fun, Jack of All Trades, The Rumquistador, a Meeean Boss, The "G"
Currently (not currently>covid) the event logistics manager at the Salvage Station, I am the middle man between the artists and the venue looking out for everyone's best interests. I had run the stage at Pisgah Brewing Co for several years and last summer moved on. Prior to that I travelled extensively to work events all over the country and beyond. I mostly stage managed and coordinated backstage. This included hospitality management, artist relations, transpo, security, stage crew, etc etc. I have attempted every position at an event from performing, to parking, to ice, to security, and more. I even pumped a porto once just to say I've done it (1- will never do it again. 2- you "pump" and porto, not suck it). I worked festivals and events from Bonnaroo (14yrs w/Icyroo), Oregon Country Fair (stage mgr at WC Fields), Bear Creek (coordinated backstage at all but the last), High Sierra, Smilefest, AmJam, Sierra Nevada World Music Fest, Trinumerals, Asheville Earth Days, Xmas Jams, Loki, Echo Project, 10KLF, LAAFF, VeGoose and countless others. I have been a regular cog in the events in Asheville area for 15+ years. I co-produced several successful food events for years in Asheville. I co-produced a no budget event celebrating the Chinese New Year for 2 years in the Yucatan and 10 more years on the west end of Negril Jamaica, which we still celebrate locally.
Beyond management stuff, I really enjoy the creative aspect of events and making something simple seem grandiose. Why be ok with a simple ez up when you can have the Taj Mahal.
I feel like I've "been around the block" and am confident and comfortable being involved in any event atmosphere. I really enjoy the work I do albeit quite difficult at times. I can contribute most of my success to those I have working with and around me. I am a cog (perhaps severals cogs at times) in a powerful wheel and am happy to do my part to make it as great as possible. The captain is only as good as their crew.
Please be well, be nice, be considerate, be healthy, and make good decisions.
