Moves
Rock - Harmonies - Horns - Grooves
Composed of some of the most accomplished players from Asheville’s diverse musical scene, Moves is a seven-piece rock band sporting a trio of lead vocalists backed by ambulatory rhythms and inventive combinations of keys, guitars and brass.
Like Dr. Dog, Lake Street Dive, and Vulfpeck, these experienced musicians carry on the traditions of layered instrumentation and stout three-part harmonies, proving themselves students of ‘60s and ‘70s rock greats while finding plenty of room for contemporary flair. On stage, they provide non-stop entertainment with each member moving seamlessly from one instrument to the next, delivering well-crafted shows with undeniable ensemble-wide chemistry that’s as much a visual treat as a sonic one.
Moves will release its self-titled debut album in the fourth quarter of 2018. Funneled through smooth production by River Whyless’ Dan Shearin, the dozen original tracks feature lyrics that reflect on love and loss, while making eloquent pleas for social justice and harmony. Pocketed between them are bursts of raw storytelling that would feel at home in an anthology of modern Southern literature and further showcase the versatility of this gifted collective.
