Kayla McKinney

Hi! I am Kayla. I am a Bass Player and Singer. I also play acoustic guitar, write songs and teach. I am a music major at UNCA. I was born in NC but was raised in WV in a music School. I started touring with my band when I was 10 years old. We do empowerment concert tours and workshops in schools and community centers along the East Coast. I fell in love with Asheville after playing LEAF several years with my band. As resident artists, we had the chance to spend two weeks in Asheville in the schools and community and that is when I knew I had to make it my home. I love funk music but also R&B, Soul, Blues, and Rock music and I am learning more about jazz in school. I'm only 18 but I've been playing professionally since a very young age at festivals, bars, and concert venues in addition to the school tours.  My band and I hope to book more shows in Asheville. I also hope to book more shows as a solo artist and a duo project I have with my mom. In addition I  am an avid videographer! Let me make your next music video or you can hire me to edit your videos!
