Chris Wilhelm and Friends 

are known for bringing positive vibes and an uplifting message. Their indie folk rock is infectious and insightful. Chris Wilhelm (formerly of The Wilhelm Brothers) on vocals & acoustic guitar, Chris Carter (Alarm Clock Conspiracy) on drums, and Greg Sipes on bass. We're based in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. We love to play in Western North Carolina and abroad.

CHRIS WILHELM AND FRIENDS have made it! Chris played his first open mic and has been performing live and recording ever since. He's performed thousands of shows from the subways in Boston to venues up and down the East Coast. And now with Chris Wilhelm and Friends, they're taking it to the next level.

In 2005 he released an album called "This Train's Not Going Slow." It reached #3 on Boston's 88.7FM WERS radio charts, and he played shows in many Boston venues including Club Passim, etc.

In 2008 Chris did his first solo tour, down to New Orleans and back to Boston. He released his second studio album, "Glory, Filth and Fame."

In 2010 did his second solo tour down South with his Dad, fell in love with Asheville, and ended up moving there that year on a "one month trial basis." He lives there to this day. He released a Kickstarter-funded CD called "Just Asking."

From 2012-2015 he played 225 shows a year as the singer-songwriter for The Wilhelm Brothers. They released two studio albums with Henry Hirsch, producer of Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, etc.: "Lay Your Burden Down" and "The Sea of the Unwritten." They also released live album "Like a Bird."

*CHRIS CARTER (DRUMS) *I was born a small, very white boy with no discernible musical aptitude til my best friend told me when I was 9 that I “drummed like a man”. Sufficiently motivated, I took up drums, playing in the junior high band & the high school drum line. After plunking away at my parents’ dulcimer, they got me a guitar (possibly so they wouldn’t have to listen to THAT. Honestly, I have to give my parents props - they have always been super supportive of my musical endeavors.) I tuned it like a dulcimer and played it on my lap. I showed up to my 1st guitar lesson, where my teacher, ignoring my insistence that it was “already tuned”, politely retuned it.After learning Beatles/hair metal songs initially on guitar, I attempted to write & record my own songs while subsequently joining numerous rock and roll combos whose emphasis was predominantly on originals. And here we are 30 years later, and I’m still at it. I shudder to think who I would be without music. It has formed my entire being and is, quite honestly, the only thing I’m good at. My other band is Alarm Clock Conspiracy.

*GREG SIPES (BASS) *Making and recording music has been a lifetime pursuit for bass guitarist Greg Sipes. Growing up in a family peppered with professional musicians provided many opportunities for trying and learning different instruments, styles, and genres of music. After spending his formative years playing trombone, guitar, and singing in choral ensembles, Greg acquired his first bass guitar in 1987, and that instrument in particular spoke to him most of all – and he’s been playing the bass as his main instrument ever since.  When he’s not holding down the low end with a bass slung over his shoulder, Greg can be found singing in the Asheville Symphony Chorus, working professionally as a sound recordist/engineer and videographer, or producing sonic experiments on his laptop.
